nn.os is a complete desktop that lives in a browser tab — windows, files,
mail, terminal, and a ⌘K launcher. This page records what shipped and why it
matters. Open the desktop →
v2.43.12
fixes
Connected form guidance. Account forms connect help text and validation errors to their fields for assistive technology.
v2.43.11
fixes
Clearer form labels. Sign-in and account forms have clearer labels, required markers and help text.
Lighter sign-in. Sign-in skips a font it doesn't use.
v2.43.10
fixes
Settings that fit. Assistant settings stay inside their window, with Close and Save visible while you scroll the form.
Less styling to load. Sign-in loads a smaller stylesheet.
v2.43.9
fixes
More room to type. In narrow Assistant windows, provider settings and Send sit below the message input so your draft has the full width.
Less to download at sign-in. Desktop styles load when you open the desktop, and the welcome page’s special font loads only on that page.
v2.43.8
fixes
Assistant changes stay visible. Clearing the message view or sending a new message keeps its latest state when older conversation history finishes loading.
v2.43.7
fixes
Assistant memories can only link to conversations and messages from your own account, keeping saved information separate between accounts.
Sign-in avoids background loading of account creation and password reset pages.
v2.43.6
fixes
Password reset is available only when all required email settings are present, so incomplete setup no longer offers a reset that cannot be sent.
v2.43.5
fixes
Clearer two-factor sign-in guidance. The code example stays readable while you type and no longer crowds error messages. Form examples are also available to screen readers.
v2.43.4
security
Distinct, single-use backup codes. New two-factor backup codes are always distinct, and using a code removes any older duplicate copies so it cannot be used again.
v2.43.3
security
Safer backup-code sign-in. A two-factor backup code cannot be reused by simultaneous sign-in attempts, and older attempts cannot restore used or replaced codes.
v2.43.2
reliability
Private database backups. Backups and their folders are now accessible only to their owner, including older copies and unfinished backups.
v2.43.1
fixes
Correct world times. World Clock follows daylight saving time (New York is UTC−4 in summer, not UTC−5) and marks cities that are a day behind with −1 instead of +1.
Weather and News. The desktop weather widget shows the time in the city it describes, not your own clock, and News stories now show their photos.
Apps fit their windows. Calculator’s bottom row, Drawing’s tool bar, the Files preview panel and Color Picker’s notes are no longer cut off, Color Picker’s sliders are single controls, and the Quick Actions widget keeps its labels on one line.
Tidier sync status. Accounts says “Syncing across N devices” instead of showing an internal ID, and devices you haven’t used for 90 days drop off the list.
v2.43.0
features
Join with Neima ID. The Create account page now offers “Continue with Neima ID”. If your Neima ID has access to nn.os, that creates your account straight away, even while sign-up is invite-only.
v2.42.4
fixes
Security update. nn.os now runs on patched versions of its web framework, its sign-in library and the components that send and read email, closing publicly reported weaknesses in each. Nothing changes in how you use it.
v2.42.3
performance
Lighter static files. Icons, wallpapers, fonts and sounds no longer go through the sign-in check, so they load with less work on the server.
Readable links on this page. Links here now have stronger contrast and are underlined, so they stand out without relying on colour.
v2.42.2
fixes
Neima ID opens your own account. Signing in with Neima ID now takes you to your own nn.os desktop, with your files and settings, and saves work normally.
Saves retry on their own. If the server briefly turns a cloud save away, nn.os tries again after a short wait instead of holding the change until you edit something else.
Fewer “too many requests” errors. Browsing the App Store, using admin tools and reporting errors each have their own, larger allowance, so ordinary busy use isn’t turned away.
v2.42.1
fixes
Neima ID sign-in works end to end. nn.os now reads your verified email from Neima ID the way Neima ID provides it, so "Continue with Neima ID" signs you in instead of being refused. If a sign-in is refused, you land back on the nn.os login page with an explanation.
v2.42.0
features
Sign in with Neima ID. Use your Neima ID account from id.neima.me to sign in to nn.os. If you already have an nn.os account with the same verified email, the two are connected the first time. Signing in with your nn.os password keeps working.
v2.41.0
features
A real TextEdit. New, Open, Save and Save As with the usual shortcuts, and the dock opens a fresh document instead of always the same file.
Smarter Notes. Tick task checkboxes directly in the preview, and [[wiki links]] open the note they name.
Keychain backups. Export an encrypted backup of your passwords, import it on another device, and change your master passphrase.
Habit reminders. Get a daily reminder for each habit, and import habits you exported earlier.
Activity Monitor. See every running app and window with a Quit button, and how much storage you use. Accounts can now disconnect services, and it no longer lists AI providers you never set up as problems.
Things stay put. Imported songs stay in Music, Telegram keeps your chat history and checks for new messages on its own, and AI Writer can save to Files or send to Notes.
Smaller fixes. Scheduling from Contacts opens a Calendar event that's already filled in, and drawings stay visible in dark mode.
v2.40.0
featuresfixes
Minimize without stopping. Minimized windows keep running, so music keeps playing and Clock, meditation and video timers carry on.
Calendar alerts. Events notify you at the alert time you set, even when Calendar is closed. Repeating events that started more than a year ago appear again.
Organize Photos. Favorite photos with a heart, delete with undo, and create your own albums.
Better Weather. Search any city in the world, switch between °C and °F, and see weather for your current location.
Calendar files. Import and export .ics files, and open .ics files straight into Calendar.
Keep your work. Save drawings, video recordings and imported songs to Files. Drawing exports no longer include hidden layers.
Little touches. Copy a translation in one click, hear a soft chime when a meditation ends, and refresh Sports from its empty screen.
v2.39.0
fixes
Deleted files free their space. Stored photos, PDFs and audio that no file uses any more are removed after a day, so they stop counting toward your 1 GB.
Readable captions. Small text on the welcome page has more contrast.
v2.38.0
performance
Faster first impression. The welcome and sign-in pages show their content immediately instead of waiting for an entrance animation, and the sign-in page downloads about 150 KB less.
v2.37.0
features
Room for your files. Photos, PDFs and audio are now stored on their own instead of inside your desktop's saved state, so a few uploads no longer hit the 24 MB workspace limit. Each account can keep up to 1 GB of files.
Complete exports. Downloading your account data still includes every file in full.
Easier to tap. The Show password buttons on sign-in and password reset are larger.
v2.36.0
security
Harder to inject scripts. Each page now runs only the scripts nn.os issued for that visit, which blocks a whole class of cross-site scripting attacks.
One calendar. The Clock app's Calendar tab shows the same events as the Calendar app, with a button to open it.
v2.35.0
fixes
Reliable app installs. Installing, updating and publishing apps now saves all-or-nothing. A failure part-way through can no longer leave an app half installed.
Safe imports. Importing your account data can be repeated without creating duplicate contacts, and the result tells you how many were imported and skipped.
Honest password reset. The “Forgot password” link only appears when the server can actually send you the reset email.
AI Coder remembers. Each file keeps its own chat history, and a Clear chat button starts fresh.
v2.34.0
featuresfixes
Color Picker. A new app to pick colors from the screen, copy them as HEX, RGB, HSL or OKLCH, check text contrast against WCAG, and keep a palette of favourites.
Recording and location work. Voice and Video can use your microphone and camera, and Maps can find your location. The browser had been blocking all three.
Reminders on time. Scheduled Assistant jobs now run on the server every minute, even when the Assistant isn't open.
Account security. Sign out of every device at once, and see a clear notice (with a resend button) when your email address isn't verified yet.
Smarter Terminal. AI assist suggests a command using your connected AI provider.
Keep what you make. Save AI-generated images to Pictures, and voice recordings or generated speech to Music.
Widgets with your data. The Calendar and Notes desktop widgets now show your real events and notes.
Smaller fixes. Feedback you send actually arrives, third-party App Store icons load, and AI provider errors say what to fix instead of showing raw server text.
v2.33.0
features
A real PDF Viewer. PDFs now render page by page, sharp at any zoom, with page thumbnails, a Contents tab for bookmarked documents, page numbers, and pinch or ⌘-scroll zoom. Before this release, PDFs could fail to show at all.
Find in PDFs. Press ⌘F to search the whole document. Every match is highlighted and you can step through them one by one.
Highlights and notes that stick. Select text with the highlighter or drop a note on any page. Your annotations stay with the file.
Open PDFs your way. Pick a PDF from your computer, drop one on the viewer, unlock password-protected files, download a copy, or try the built-in sample guide.
App ratings and reviews. Rate and review apps in the App Store. Average ratings appear on app cards, with a breakdown on each app's page.
Conversations in Mail. Replies are grouped into one conversation, and the reader shows the whole thread with the newest message open. One click switches back to single messages.
v2.32.0
feature
AI Coder talks to your real AI. Explain, Refactor, Add Tests, Generate Docs and the chat box now send the open file to the AI provider you connected in Accounts, instead of showing a canned demo answer.
Review changes as a diff. A refactor or documentation pass comes back as a line-by-line comparison with added and removed counts. Accept it to update the file, or reject it.
Work on your own files. AI Coder lists the code and text files in your workspace, opens files from Files → Open With or by dropping them on its window, saves with ⌘S, and can save a generated test file next to the source.
Smarter Mail. Summarize Thread and Smart Reply use your AI provider, and a smart reply can be dropped straight into a reply draft.
Honest previews. When no provider is connected, answers are labelled as previews and a shortcut takes you to Accounts to connect one.
v2.31.0
perf
Even faster startup. The desktop now loads its animation engine just after it appears instead of up front, trimming another 72 KB from what your browser downloads before you can start working. Animations look and feel the same.
v2.30.0
fixes
Deleted events stay deleted. Deleting a calendar event on one device no longer brings it back when another device syncs an older copy. Editing an event after it was deleted elsewhere still keeps your edit.
Cleaner data export. Your account data export contains only the calendar events you can see.
v2.29.0
featuresfixes
Apps that work together. Opening or dropping a song, video, picture or PDF sends it straight to Music, Video, Photos or PDF Viewer — even onto a window that's already open — and Notes opens the note you pick in Files.
Share and invite. Share a note by email, add guests to a calendar event and email them the details, and jump straight to the right Telegram chat from Accounts.
An Assistant that follows through. When you ask the Assistant to draft an email or take a note, it now opens the draft in Mail or the note in Notes for you.
No lost work between tabs. If two tabs or devices change files at the same time, nn.os now keeps both sets of changes, and saves a conflicted copy when the same file was edited in both places.
v2.28.0
fixesfeatures
Safer Terminal. rm no longer deletes a whole folder unless you ask for it with -r, refuses to remove the root or top-level folders, and cp/mv won't overwrite an existing file unless you pass -f.
No lost keystrokes. Notes saves what you typed even if you switch notes or close the window right away, and renaming a Writing document no longer splits it into two files.
Files behaves. Batch rename keeps files in their folder, a folder copy that fails no longer leaves a half-copied folder behind, and paths with .. are handled correctly everywhere.
Open files in the right app. PDFs open in PDF Viewer, music in Music and videos in Video, and Files has an Open With menu.
Email a contact. The Email button in Contacts opens a new message addressed to them, and Mail keeps your messages on screen if a sync fails.
v2.27.0
fixesdesign
The launcher opens what you typed. If your mouse pointer happened to rest where the ⌘K launcher appears, typing could quietly move the highlight to whatever was under the pointer, so Enter opened the wrong thing. The highlight now only follows the mouse when you actually move it.
A warmer welcome. First-run setup shows the nn.os logo, starts with the Get started button focused, uses larger, easier-to-read steps and a bigger wallpaper picker, and calls ⌘K the Launcher everywhere.
See it in action. The welcome page video now shows today's desktop: opening Files and Notes from the Launcher and arranging their windows.
v2.26.0
infra
Fonts that always arrive. nn.os now ships its own copies of its typefaces instead of fetching them from Google, so text renders the same everywhere and a Google outage can't affect how it looks.
Smoother menus. The logo menu, clock tooltip and announcement banner animate with lightweight CSS, and still respect Reduce motion.
v2.25.0
perf
A lighter desktop. The desktop, menu bar and dock no longer redraw when unrelated things change — like a notification arriving or another window moving — and the clocks update just their own digits once a second.
Quieter for screen readers. The desktop clock no longer announces every second; it announces the time once a minute.
App icons load after startup. The full catalog of app icons now loads just after the desktop appears, while the dock and running apps are ready immediately.
v2.24.0
perffixes
Much faster to load. Every page of nn.os now downloads about 275 KB less JavaScript at startup — the desktop dropped from 1.47 MB to 1.19 MB — so it opens noticeably faster, especially on phones.
Calmer in the background. The system stats widget no longer runs an animation loop forever and pauses while the tab is hidden, and the desktop stops redrawing when nothing about who's online has changed.
Changes survive a quick refresh. A setting or workspace change made just before you reload the page is no longer lost.
More accessible. The menu bar, desktop icons and calendar now use correct screen-reader structure, and buttons on light accent colors get dark text so they stay readable.
v2.23.0
featuresperf
Dictate and print. Notes and Writing have a microphone button that turns your speech into text at the cursor (when a speech provider is connected), and a Print button that prints just the document.
Saved window layouts. Save the way your windows are arranged under a name and bring the whole arrangement back later from the Window menu or ⌘K.
Your shortcuts, your keys. Change the system keyboard shortcuts from the shortcuts panel (⌘/), with warnings when two would clash and one-click reset.
Install nn.os. When your browser supports it, the nn.os menu offers to install nn.os as an app.
Sturdier admin and account pages. If an admin or account page fails to load, you now see a proper error with Try again instead of a broken screen — and those pages load noticeably less code.
v2.22.0
features
Search inside your files. The ⌘K launcher now searches the text inside your notes and documents — including notes in subfolders — and shows a highlighted snippet of each match.
Undo deletes. Deleting a note or a contact now shows an Undo button for a few seconds instead of asking you to confirm a permanent delete.
Quick notes from anywhere. Press ⌥⌘N to jot a note without leaving what you're doing; it's saved to Notes, with a shortcut to open it.
Real screenshots. ⇧⌘4 lets you drag to capture part of the screen and ⇧⌘3 captures all of it; screenshots are saved to Pictures and copied to your clipboard.
Drag files in. Drop files from your computer straight into Files, or onto a folder, to upload them.
v2.21.0
fixesdesign
Maps starts clean. Maps no longer pre-fills your Saved Places with landmarks you never saved, and it tells you when your location isn't available instead of silently doing nothing.
Apps fit their windows. Telegram, Keychain and the App Store now arrange themselves by the size of their own window, so they stay usable when you make a window small. Keychain's passphrase fields are also properly labelled for screen readers.
One consistent header. App Store, Help and What's New use the same compact header as the rest of the system.
No settings that do nothing. Account notification and density toggles that weren't connected to anything have been removed; notification settings live in Settings on the desktop.
Honest admin tools. The admin area no longer shows made-up support tickets or a permanent all-clear badge, and its sidebar folds into a menu on small screens.
Faster welcome page. The welcome page loads its main screenshot first, so it appears sooner.
v2.20.0
design
Readable desktop in light mode. Desktop icon names now use dark text on a frosted pill in light mode, so they stay readable on bright wallpapers.
A fresh look at nn.os. The welcome page now shows the current desktop, launcher, Assistant, Settings and Weather — the same system you'll sign in to.
v2.19.0
design
A tidier Assistant. The Assistant's header, status and New chat controls sit on one clean row, memory and automation cards no longer overlap, and the message box lines up with its buttons — including on phones, where it now stays clear of the dock.
Music looks right. Music shows its title once and gives song names more room.
Polished in light mode. Launcher section headers blend into the glass panel in light mode instead of sitting on a white band.
Cleaner on phones. The Private alpha banner stays out of the way while an app is open on a phone.
v2.18.0
design
Roomier windows. Apps now open at a size that fits your screen instead of a small fixed box, so layouts have room to breathe.
A calmer, consistent look. Habits, Photos, Music, Video, Wellness and AI Image trade their loud gradient banners for the same compact header the rest of the system uses.
Files shows your files. The Files toolbar is now one compact row, so the file list always has room — even in smaller windows.
A cleaner Terminal. Terminal drops its duplicate window buttons and stacked header rows for a single toolbar, giving output most of the window.
Readable editors. TextEdit's first line is no longer hidden under its toolbar, and its status bar reads on one line. Focus and Writing headers and sidebars fit their windows.
Tidier details. An empty calendar shows a clean grid, Settings preset cards fit their panel, Photos has one set of view tabs, and the Private alpha banner no longer covers window title bars.
v2.17.0
featuresfixes
Terminal split panes. Split the terminal with ⌘D and work in up to four panes side by side, each with its own history and folder. Narrow windows stack them.
Alarms that actually ring. Alarms now sound until you dismiss them, and still go off when Clock is closed or minimized.
PDFs open for real. PDF Viewer and Preview now show the PDF you open from Files. The made-up sample report and its canned AI summary are gone, and Fit Width and Fit Page really fit.
A clean start. Calendar, Photos and Wellness no longer fill your account with invented events, stock photos or a fake week of moods. Start fresh, or import your own.
Honest AI apps. When no AI provider is connected, Writer, Coder, Image and wallpaper generation clearly say their output is a sample or placeholder. Voice plays at the speed you pick, and generated images can be saved and copied.
Your work is kept. Writer drafts and Translator phrasebooks are saved between sessions.
Keys stay where you type. Viewer apps no longer grab arrow, zoom or print keys meant for the window you're actually using.
Fewer dead ends. Removed a Files share link that led nowhere and a News tab that duplicated Headlines. Sports shows readable headlines in any window size, Writing only opens text documents, and Activity Monitor now records app launches and windows.
v2.16.0
fixesdesign
Quick Settings is real. The Quick Settings panel now changes real settings — focus mode, wallpaper brightness and sounds. Toggles that couldn't do anything (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Airplane) are gone.
Widgets tell the truth. The widget board's weather shows your actual forecast (marked Sample when the service is down), its clock ticks once a second instead of every frame, and the music widget no longer shows a frozen 0:00.
No made-up data. Contacts and Habits start empty, with a button to load examples if you want them — example habits no longer come with an invented streak history. Maps no longer shows fake ratings, hours or photos, and route times follow the travel mode you pick.
Honest media. Built-in songs are marked Sample and don't pretend to play without audio. Video keeps one real sample clip, and its trim button says it saves trim points.
Drawings are saved. Your drawing and its layers are kept when you close Drawing and come back.
Mail fits any window. Mail arranges itself by the size of its own window, so a narrow window shows one clean column instead of three cramped ones.
Better in light mode. Sliders, onboarding choices and the notification header are clearly visible on light themes, and color swatches and the lock screen show a focus ring for keyboard users.
Smoother menus and threads. Desktop submenus fade in instead of jumping sideways, and archiving the Assistant thread you're viewing moves you to the next one.
v2.15.0
designfixes
Windows glide. Dragging or resizing a window no longer redraws the whole desktop on every frame, so it stays smooth with many apps open.
The dock stays put. Hovering the dock magnifies icons upward over the desktop instead of making the dock taller and shifting everything above it.
Reduce motion means it. The in-app Reduce motion setting now calms every shell animation, not just some of them.
Menus work from the keyboard. The desktop right-click menu, the logo menu and the account menu support arrow keys and Escape, Enter closes the menu after acting, and submenus open on-screen near the right edge.
Mobile gestures behave. Holding a finger on the screen no longer pops open Mission Control, and the home bar at the bottom now actually takes you home.
Right answers from Calculator. Large results like 6,000,000 × 2,000 now show correctly instead of a wrong number.
Clock keeps time. Timers, the stopwatch and alarms keep running when you switch Clock tabs.
Honest weather. When the forecast service is unreachable, Weather and the desktop widget now say the numbers are a sample. Cities you add are remembered.
Notes and Terminal fixes. Notes search looks through the whole note and no longer mangles code containing \n. Terminal themes now apply and stick, and Tab completes the last argument.
Friendlier sign-in. When sign-up is invite-only, you're pointed to Request access instead of a form that can't succeed. Errors stay on screen until you try again, and you get a confirmation after resetting your password.
Clearer tabs and access. Pages have their own titles, text on sign-in pages is easier to read, and week-view calendar events can be opened from the keyboard.
v2.14.28
perf
The waitlist is ready immediately. Beta signups show on first view, instead of flashing an empty table while they load.
v2.14.27
perf
App review is ready immediately. The listings page shows the review queue on first view, instead of flashing empty rows while it loads.
v2.14.26
perf
Feature flags are ready immediately. The flags page shows your saved flags on first view, instead of flashing empty rows while it loads.
v2.14.25
perf
Audit log is ready immediately. Recent account events show on first view, instead of a blank row while the page loads.
v2.14.24
fixes
Admin activity is real. The home page lists events from your audit log. Signup counts are a snapshot, and services that are not measured no longer look healthy.
v2.14.23
perf
Admin home is ready immediately. User, install, and review counts show on first view, instead of dashes that say Loading….
v2.14.22
perf
Admin users are ready immediately. The user list shows real accounts on first view, instead of flashing empty rows while it loads.
v2.14.21
fixes
Exports keep two-factor secrets off the file. Downloading your account data now says only whether two-factor is on, instead of including secret fields marked redacted.
v2.14.20
fixes
Email status is honest. Profile now says Unverified until you confirm your address, instead of always showing Verified.
v2.14.19
features
Exports include your profile. Downloading your account data now includes your name, bio, and phone, instead of only a note that a profile exists.
v2.14.18
features
Exports include your calendar. Downloading your account data now includes calendar events along with contacts and the rest of your workspace.
v2.14.17
features
Profile is real now. Account profile shows your signed-in name and email, and Save writes them to your account instead of pretending to succeed.
v2.14.16
perf
Security status is ready on first view. Two-factor and device counts show immediately, instead of flashing Checking… while the page loads.
v2.14.15
fixes
Device count is honest. Account security shows how many browsers have opened your desktop, instead of a generic Listed below tile.
v2.14.14
features
Contacts example saves to your address book. New or edited people in the Contacts example are stored on your account, so they stay after you reload.
v2.14.13
features
Contacts example uses your address book. When you are signed in, the Contacts SDK example shows people from your account, not only names saved in that app’s private storage.
v2.14.12
features
Desktop apps can read your calendar. Agenda running in a desktop window now shows the same events as Calendar, instead of only loading them when opened as a standalone page.
v2.14.11
fixes
Two-factor status is honest. Account security shows Two-factor as On when your authenticator is already active, instead of always saying Set up below.
v2.14.10
fixes
Security page tells the truth. It no longer says device tracking has not shipped, and it does not offer an Add passkey button that cannot work yet.
v2.14.9
features
Agenda shows your day. The Agenda example lists today’s events from your calendar, or says you have none, instead of a fake schedule.
v2.14.8
fixes
About this desktop is honest. Settings → About shows the version you are running and this browser, not made-up memory and storage.
v2.14.7
fixes
Desktop opens when you are signed in. After sign-in, the loading screen no longer sits there when your workspace is already ready.
v2.14.6
fixes
Calendar follows your account. Events you add are saved with your account, so they show up on your other devices.
v2.14.5
fixes
Devices you actually use. Account security now lists browsers that have opened your desktop. Changing your password still signs every session out.
v2.14.4
fixes
Contacts stay with your account. People you add in Contacts are saved with your account, and contacts created for you now show up in the app.
v2.14.3
fixes
A calmer tablet desktop. Corner widgets and the large clock no longer sit on top of your icons on tablet-sized screens. You can still open the widget board from the nn.os menu.
Windows stay on screen. Opening an app on a tablet no longer stretches the window past the edge of the screen.
v2.14.2
fixes
Honest admin diagnostics. The diagnostics page no longer shows zeros for sessions, errors, and latency it is not measuring. It now says those are not tracked, and it shows whether the database and password-reset mail are actually set up.
A warning when reset mail is missing. If password-reset email is not configured, the server logs that for operators. The reset page still does not say whether an account exists.
v2.14.1
fixes
Safer mail conversations. Formatted messages in a thread now open inside a locked frame, so a crafted email can't cover the rest of the desktop.
Music widget that tells the truth. The desktop Music widget shows the track that's actually playing, with a live progress bar, and its buttons pause or skip while Music is open.
You'll know if a save fails. If this device can't store your desktop, nn.os says so instead of pretending the save worked.
v2.14.0
design
Every app, one refined look. A polish pass across all remaining apps — Assistant, App Store, Photos, Music, Video, Weather, News, Sports, Contacts, Maps, Calculator, Clock, TextEdit, Keychain, Activity, Focus, Habits, Wellness, Drawing, Telegram, and the AI tools — bringing softer surfaces, hairline borders, and consistent controls everywhere.
Themes that reach every corner. Light, sepia, ultra-dark, and high-contrast modes no longer show hard-to-read text or mismatched dark panels in any app.
Readable accent buttons. Labels on colored buttons and badges now always use the correct contrast color for your chosen accent.
Calmer motion. Animations in every app now respect your Reduce Motion setting.
v2.13.63
design
A richer first impression. New desktops now default to the Signature aurora wallpaper — flowing color in dark mode and a soft pastel bloom in light mode. If you already picked a wallpaper, nothing changes.
A more helpful Welcome document. The default Welcome note now walks through the launcher, Files, Terminal, window tiling, and where to find themes and wallpapers.
v2.13.62
fixes
TextEdit no longer hides the first line on phones. Mobile document text now starts below the floating toolbar, keeping the beginning of a file visible while editing.
v2.13.61
fixes
Terminal keyboard hints stay visible on phones. The mobile Terminal now wraps its command hints inside the input dock instead of clipping the right-side shortcuts off-screen.
v2.13.60
fixes
First-run mobile overlays no longer collide. Fresh mobile desktops now show the cookie notice before first-run tips, and both bottom overlays sit clear of the dock.
v2.13.59
fixes
Menu-bar popovers replace each other. Control Center, Notifications, the account menu, and the nn.os menu now close the previous popover before showing the next one on mobile.
v2.13.58
fixes
Recent file shortcuts open the file. Files now opens recent documents in their editor instead of treating the document path like a folder.
v2.13.57
fixes
Mobile Calendar dates stay tappable. Month view now scrolls clear of the bottom dock on phones, so the final week rows remain visible and reachable.
v2.13.56
fixes
Mobile Settings content scrolls properly. The main Settings pane now stays scrollable on phones, keeping lower Appearance controls reachable below the section tabs.
v2.13.55
fixes
Mobile Accounts stays reachable. The Accounts app now keeps the provider list scrollable on phones, with the connect action and account health details available in the same view.
v2.13.54
fixes
Mobile Settings tabs stay reachable. Account, Privacy, and the rest of the wrapped Settings sections are no longer clipped below the navigation area.
v2.13.53
fixes
TextEdit mobile controls are clearer. Find & Replace now shows a full Replace label instead of the cryptic Rep abbreviation.
v2.13.52
fixes
Cleaner Launcher file search. Matching files now appear once in Launcher, using the clearer filename-and-path row instead of showing a duplicate raw path entry.
v2.13.51
fixes
Cleaner mobile account menu. Opening the account menu now closes Notifications first, so menu-bar panels no longer stack over each other on narrow screens.
v2.13.50
fixes
App Store outages are easier to recover from. Load errors now include a clear retry action, so a temporary catalog outage can recover without closing and reopening App Store.
v2.13.49
fixes
Renamed documents keep saving to the right file. TextEdit now follows file renames from Files, so saving updates the renamed document instead of recreating the old filename.
v2.13.48
fixes
New notes are ready for typing. The Launcher New Note quick action now places focus directly in the editor after Notes opens, including on mobile.
v2.13.47
performance
Cleaner desktop reloads. Desktop reloads no longer preload the decorative nn.os branding mark unnecessarily, reducing console noise and wasted startup work after onboarding.
v2.13.46
fixes
Launcher New Note creates a note on mobile. The mobile Launcher quick action now opens Notes with a new editable note ready, matching the desktop shortcut instead of stopping at an empty Notes window.
v2.13.45
fixes
Readable Notes titles. Notes now keeps the title you typed after rename, reload, and workspace restore, while the desktop widget shows the same readable title. The desktop New Note shortcut also opens Notes with a new note ready to edit.
v2.13.44
fixes
More reliable Weather startup. City weather now falls back to a usable built-in forecast when the free live weather service is slow or unavailable, so the desktop avoids noisy failed weather loads.
v2.13.43
fixes
Cleaner welcome-page heading. The hero headline now keeps the space between sentences for browser text extraction and assistive technology, while still appearing on two polished visual lines.
v2.13.42
fixes
Fresh accounts start quieter. Accounts no longer shows a dock alert just because optional assistant providers have not been connected yet, while those providers remain easy to find when you want to set them up.
v2.13.41
fixes
Weather live data is more reliable. Weather now asks for a leaner live forecast and uses built-in coordinates for known cities when geocoding is unavailable, keeping current conditions and forecasts loading cleanly.
v2.13.40
fixes
Menu bar panels no longer stack. Opening Notifications now closes Control Center, and opening Control Center closes Notifications, keeping the desktop chrome clean and usable.
v2.13.39
fixes
Mobile Launcher gets out of the way. Opening an app from Launcher search now closes Launcher immediately, so the app you picked is ready to use.
v2.13.38
fixes
First-run setup gets out of the way. Skipping setup now removes the onboarding overlay immediately, keeping the desktop and app menus clickable.
v2.13.37
fixes
Accounts provider setup is cleaner. Assistant provider settings now open as a single focused panel from Accounts, instead of stacking underneath the Connect account dialog.
v2.13.36
fixes
Desktop startup and Mail setup are more reliable. Cloud-synced desktops now open from the server snapshot even while sync refreshes in the background. Mail account setup keeps Save and Cancel visible in shorter windows.
v2.13.35
fixes
Calendar filters are easier to use. Personal and Work calendar visibility controls now behave as named checkboxes, making their state clear to screen readers and keyboard users.
v2.13.34
fixes
Notes snapshot history is clearer. The snapshot picker now names the active note, making saved note versions easier to identify and restore with assistive technology.
v2.13.33
fixes
TextEdit snapshot history is labeled. The snapshot dropdown now includes the document name in its accessible label, making saved versions clearer for screen-reader and voice-control users.
v2.13.32
fixes
TextEdit editors are easier to identify. The main document editor now includes the file name in its accessible label, so screen readers and voice-control tools can target the writing area clearly.
v2.13.31
fixes
Settings stays reachable in shorter windows. Settings now switches to compact navigation when a desktop window is short, keeping Account, Privacy, and other tabs visible and clickable above the dock.
v2.13.30
fixes
Notes controls are clearer. Note rows and delete buttons are now separate controls, making the Notes sidebar easier to use with keyboards and screen readers.
v2.13.29
fixes
News feed loading recovers reliably. News now leaves loading when feed requests finish or time out, so users see articles or a retryable state instead of a stuck spinner.
v2.13.28
fixes
Mobile app sheets are clearer for assistive tech. Only the foreground app is exposed on phone-sized layouts; background windows are hidden until brought forward again.
v2.13.27
fixes
Launcher search is more relevant. Searches with no app, setting, file, or note match now show the Assistant ask action instead of unrelated app and clock-setting results.
v2.13.26
fixes
Calendar controls are clearer. Month view now exposes each date and event as separate controls, improving keyboard and screen-reader navigation.
App updates refresh reliably. nn.os no longer serves cached app-code chunks from the service worker, so users receive the latest interface after a release.
v2.13.25
features
Account terms are reviewable. Registration now links to a public Terms of Service page, so users can read the account terms before creating an nn.os account.
v2.13.24
fixes
Changelog links stay current. The app changelog route now opens the maintained public changelog instead of older release notes, so release links start with the latest nn.os updates.
v2.13.23
fixes
Reset confirmation copy is cleaner. The password reset success screen now uses "Try again" so its retry action matches the rest of the account UI.
v2.13.22
fixes
Password recovery is reachable. The sign-in screen now includes a clear "Forgot password?" link that opens the reset flow.
v2.13.21
fixes
Missing pages recover honestly. The 404 screen now says "Back to nn.os" for signed-out visitors, matching the welcome page they return to.
v2.13.20
fixes
Editors stay unobstructed. First-run tips and cookie notices now wait while an app window is open, so Notes and other workspace windows keep their controls and content clear.
v2.13.19
fixes
Mobile app windows stay clear. First-run tips and cookie notices now wait while an app window is open on mobile, keeping Settings and other work surfaces unobstructed.
v2.13.18
fixes
Onboarding controls are clearer. The cookie notice now says Accept essential cookies, so it no longer duplicates the first-run tip's Got it action.
v2.13.17
fixes
Launcher names are cleaner on mobile. Suggested apps now show their app names without repeating short labels like Assistant Assist.
v2.13.16
fixes
Mail setup stays reachable. The Mail sidebar now keeps Add account visible while accounts load, so first-time setup opens directly from Mail.
v2.13.15
fixes
Settings is cleaner on mobile. Switching the Settings window into a narrow mobile layout no longer triggers a browser development warning or issue overlay.
v2.13.14
fixes
The desktop opens through temporary cloud hiccups. If saved desktop state or profile data is briefly unavailable, nn.os now opens with safe defaults instead of showing an error screen.
v2.13.13
fixes
Mail compose closes by click again. The compose window now stays inside the Mail app content area, so its close button remains clickable even in shorter desktop windows.
v2.13.12
fixes
Accounts labels Hugging Face correctly. The Accounts app no longer shows a Hugging Face assistant provider as a duplicate OpenAI row.
v2.13.11
fixes
Better Settings accessibility. Display and wallpaper sliders now have clear names for screen readers.
v2.13.10
fixes
Cleaner launcher results. Search results now keep matching items from the same category under one heading.
v2.13.9
fixes
Clearer Notes widget. Blank notes now show as empty notes instead of making the desktop say there are no notes.
v2.13.8
fixes
Cleaner welcome copy. The Command-K launcher sentence now keeps its spacing intact in browser text.
v2.13.7
fixes
Quieter startup. Startup notifications now wait for your first interaction before playing system sounds.
v2.13.6
fixes
Site-settings refresh misses no longer look like app errors. If the desktop cannot refresh public site settings after load, it keeps the settings it already has and leaves the browser free of the red development issue badge.
v2.13.5
fixes
Temporary sync outages no longer look like app crashes. When cloud sync is briefly unavailable, nn.os restores the local workspace and keeps the browser free of the red development issue badge.
v2.13.4
fixes
Fresh desktops keep widget buttons reachable. The first-run Spotlight tip no longer sits over the Notes widget, so New Note can be clicked immediately and opens Notes as expected.
v2.13.3
fixes
Account creation stays within reach. On shorter browser windows, the registration screen now keeps the Create account button visible after the password checklist appears.
v2.13.2
fixes
Remember me is easier to use. The login screen now exposes Remember me as a proper checkbox, including the right checked state when your saved preference is restored.
Login loads without a saved-preference mismatch. Opening the login page with Remember me already enabled no longer triggers a browser hydration error.
v2.13.1
performance
Welcome loads cleaner. The main desktop preview on the welcome page now keeps priority on the first image users see, avoiding a browser warning caused by reusing that same capture later on the page.
v2.13.0
features
Hugging Face joins the AI provider lineup. Add a free Hugging Face token under Settings › AI providers and your assistant, AI writing tools, and image generation run on open models like gpt-oss, Llama, Qwen, and DeepSeek — no paid API required.
AI wallpaper studio. In Settings › Appearance, describe a scene, pick a style and shape, and generate a one-of-a-kind desktop background. Like it? One click sets it as your wallpaper.
One token, every AI feature. With Hugging Face configured, generated images come from FLUX, voice dictation uses Whisper, and text-to-speech runs on open speech models — all through the same token.
Requests to Hugging Face respect a time limit, so a slow model can never leave a feature hanging.
v2.12.0
featuresfixes
The Terminal now splits. Press ⌘D for two panes side by side or ⌘⇧D to stack them (buttons live in the header too). Run different commands in each, click a pane to type there, and close any pane with its Close button — every pane keeps its own folder and scrollback, and up to four can share one tab.
Text size is now a real setting. Instead of a single Large text switch, Settings › Accessibility offers a scale from 90% to 150% that the whole desktop respects. If you had Large text on, it carries over automatically.
Hardened plumbing. Every API route now caps how much data it reads from a single request, and connections to external services (mail providers, AI models, Telegram) give up after a time limit instead of hanging forever.
App Store asset checks no longer take a server's word for it. If a server hides the size of an icon or screenshot, the review flags it for a human instead of silently passing it.
Fixed a stale release test that reported the previous update as broken — the test suite now runs green regardless of the version being shipped.
v2.11.0
design
A visual consistency pass across the whole desktop. Colors now come from your chosen theme everywhere instead of a few hard-coded shades, so changing your accent or switching between light and dark repaints the desktop, menus, notifications, and lock screen together — no more mismatched panels.
Status messages stay on-palette. Toasts, pills, and banners now read their success, warning, and error colors from the theme, staying legible in both light and dark mode.
The lock screen glows with your accent. The ambient light behind the clock and the unlock button follow your chosen accent instead of a fixed blue.
Consistent corner rounding across launcher results, the Dock, and desktop icons, so everything feels like one system.
v2.10.0
fixes
Notes written by older versions now open cleanly. Saved notes that displayed stray "n" characters or missing line breaks are repaired as you read them.
The Files search label stays readable at every window size instead of truncating to a fragment.
The desktop weather widget stays in step with the Weather app, refreshing regularly from the same source rather than freezing on its load-time value.
Reliability hardening: server-only code can no longer end up in browser bundles, and desktop windows no longer announce themselves as modal dialogs to screen readers.
v2.9.0
feature
Two-factor authentication is here. Set up an authenticator app from Account → Security and signing in will ask for a 6-digit code — or one of your backup codes when you're without your device. Backup codes work exactly once, and turning two-factor off requires a current code so only you can do it.
The security page now reflects reality: what it offers works, and what isn't built yet says so instead of showing dead switches.
Deployments verify themselves more strictly. The go-live check confirms the running site reports the exact build that was deployed, pending database changes are applied before the new version takes over, and a failed migration aborts the deploy automatically.
Large account imports are gentler on the server — contact imports are size-limited and written in batches.
v2.8.0
infra
Fresh installs work end-to-end. The complete database schema now ships as a committed baseline migration with a proper apply tool, and an automatic check keeps it in lockstep with the app — provisioning a brand-new database no longer fails halfway.
Signing in gives away less. Login takes the same amount of time whether or not an email has an account, so responses can't be clocked to discover who's registered.
Desktop icon dragging is more reliable. Dropping an icon over an open window or the menu bar no longer leaves it stuck mid-air — the drop lands where you let go.
Calendar keeps edits made in the first moments after opening instead of letting the saved-calendar load silently overwrite them.
Sync conflicts double-check before reloading, so edits made here while the conflict was being resolved aren't rolled back.
App Store usage reports reach their destination — install and view events now land in the system telemetry store instead of a nonexistent address.
v2.7.0
fixes
Mail is safer to read. A crafted email could smuggle dangerous styling past the reader's defenses when the same trick appeared twice in a row — that loophole is closed, so overlay and clickjacking styles are always stripped.
Your account export no longer includes security material. Two-factor secrets, backup codes, and encryption blobs never leave the server. Downloading an export now requires a deliberate in-app action rather than a plain link.
Custom AI endpoints are verified before connecting. An assistant provider's address must resolve to public internet space — internal and local network targets are refused.
Closing a window with the keyboard lands you safely inside the next window, not on its close button (Enter no longer closes a second window by accident).
Releasing a window drag can no longer leave a snap preview hanging on screen.
Uploads in Files recover from errors and tell you which files didn't make it instead of showing "uploading" forever.
Proper error screens outside the desktop: broken links show a branded "not found" page, and crashes show a clear recovery screen with an error id instead of a blank page.
v2.6.0
design
Calendar events wear one consistent color everywhere. An event's color follows the same rule in month, week and day views — its own color first, then the calendar it belongs to, then your accent — so an event no longer changes color as you switch views.
True hairline separators. Lines between panels, rows and cards across Mail, Files, Calendar, Notes, Settings and the desktop shell are finer and fainter, so content reads first and structure stays out of the way.
Reduce motion is honored in more places. Settings panes stop sliding side to side and calendar cells settle without pulsing when your device asks for less motion.
A calmer today marker in Calendar — a solid accent disc instead of a glowing gradient, with a gentle wash on today's cell.
v2.5.0
feature
Archive Assistant conversations. Right-click a conversation and choose Archive to move it out of the way without deleting it. Archived conversations live in a collapsed "Archived" section at the bottom of the list, stay fully readable, and can be restored any time. Your always-on Personal AI Agent stays put.
v2.4.0
featuredesign
Two new wallpapers: Horizon and Horizon dawn. A night sky over a glowing horizon line, and the same scene at first light — one artwork in two renditions. Pick either and your desktop shows the right one for your theme.
Appearance presets curate the whole look. Minimal, Focus and Vibrant each bring their own wallpaper along with theme, accent and motion, and every preset wallpaper adapts to light and dark so the look survives a theme change. Each preset card now previews its wallpaper.
The menu bar spells the product name consistently. Older installations had stored a differently-cased title, so the top-left corner disagreed with every other screen.
v2.3.0
featuredesign
Wallpapers adapt to your theme. The built-in wallpapers that come in both a light and a dark version — Neural workspace, Signature, Aurora and Gradient mesh — now show the matching version automatically when the OS switches between light and dark mode, so a light desktop no longer sits on a dark background. Your choice is remembered: switch the theme back and your wallpaper returns exactly as it was. These wallpapers carry an "Adapts to light & dark" badge in Settings.
The Assistant repeats itself less. Status like "Ready any time" and your memory and provider details were shown twice — once in the toolbar and again inside the conversation. They now appear only in the toolbar, leaving the conversation area to the conversation.
Files says the item count once. The count lives in the status bar at the bottom; the line above the file list is reserved for search results.
v2.2.6
fixes
The Assistant stops saying it remembers nothing while it is still looking. Opening the memory panel flashed "No memory saved yet" before your memories arrived — and when the panel could not load at all, it kept saying that indefinitely instead of admitting it had never checked. It now says it is loading until it genuinely knows the answer.
v2.2.5
fixes
The guard on password attempts counts properly under load. The protection behind password checks, password changes, account deletion and password-reset email read the current attempt count and wrote it back as two separate steps, so two requests arriving at the same instant could both read the same number and both be allowed. It is now a single step the database performs atomically.
A lockout tells you how long it lasts. After too many password attempts the lock screen used to say "try again shortly" about a wait that can run to fifteen minutes. It now tells you the real remaining time.
v2.2.4
fixes
Mail stops cutting you off partway through your inbox. Listing mailboxes, syncing, and opening a message all drew on one small shared allowance — so opening roughly 28 messages in a minute used it up, and Mail then reported a sync failure that was really its own limit. Reading mail now has room for a real session, and connecting or removing an account keeps its own tighter guard.
Mail says how long to wait. When a request genuinely has to wait its turn, the notification now tells you how long instead of just saying it failed.
v2.2.3
fixes
The Assistant stops running out of requests just from being used. Every part of the Assistant used to draw on one small shared allowance, so simply opening it a few times could push you over it — and then your threads, memory and settings came back empty as though you had none. Reading your own data now has its own generous allowance, kept separate from the work that actually calls a model.
A refused request tells you how long to wait. Instead of "try again shortly", the Assistant now says how many seconds or minutes are left, and the message you had typed comes straight back to the box rather than disappearing.
The assistant panel inside an app names the real problem. It used to say it could not reach the assistant no matter what went wrong — including when you simply needed to sign in. It now says what actually happened.
v2.2.2
fixes
The Trash can't lose a file any more. Moving something to the Trash used to delete it before checking the undo record was stored. If there isn't room to store it, the item now stays exactly where it is and nn.os tells you.
Version history degrades gracefully. A long document's past versions used to stop being recorded once they outgrew their storage — silently, while still showing "Saved". It now keeps as many recent versions as fit.
Terminal reports what it couldn't copy. Copying a folder no longer drops a file from the copy without saying so.
Migrating an old Quick Notes file is safe. The original is only removed once the new copy has actually been written.
v2.2.1
fixes
A huge document can't break syncing any more. Notes, TextEdit and Writing now tell you when a document is too large to save, rather than failing quietly, and no single file can grow past 8 MB.
Preferences are honest about failing. If your browser refuses to store settings on this device, the page says so instead of claiming they were saved locally.
v2.2.0
featuresfixes
Shapes can be moved in Drawing. Pick the select tool and drag a shape to reposition it. Undo puts it back exactly where it was.
Habits can reset the current count. The habit detail view has a reset for today's (or this week's) tally. Your streak and history stay intact.
Video explains a failed import. Choosing a file that isn't a playable video used to do nothing at all; now it says which file it was and why it was skipped.
Maps says when a search found nothing. An empty result used to look like a broken search. Map searches also stop waiting on a server that never answers.
Big files no longer break syncing. Uploads to Files are capped at 5 MB each, and if a workspace does grow past what the cloud accepts, nn.os tells you instead of silently retrying forever.
Mistyped email addresses are caught before sending. A bad address now points at the address itself rather than suggesting your mail server is misconfigured.
Slow outside services can't hang the app. Weather, currency, and place lookups give up on an unresponsive server instead of spinning indefinitely.
v2.1.17
fixes
Calendar event menus are labeled. The recurrence and alarm dropdowns in the event editor now announce their names clearly for assistive technology.
v2.1.16
fixes
Keychain URL copy controls are named. The URL copy button in entry details now announces itself clearly for assistive technology instead of appearing as an unnamed icon button.
v2.1.15
fixes
Image Viewer drag handling is more robust. If the browser cannot capture a pointer during a drag, the viewer keeps panning instead of crashing.
v2.1.14
fixes
Image Viewer panning feels right after rotation. Dragging a zoomed, rotated image now moves it in the direction you drag instead of along the rotated image axes.
v2.1.13
fixes
TextEdit saves from the keyboard. Pressing Cmd/Ctrl+S while editing a document now saves it immediately, just like the Save button.
v2.1.12
fixes
Image Viewer handles broken images cleanly. A file
that fails to load now switches to the no-preview message instead of
leaving a dead image frame on screen.
v2.1.11
fixesperformanceinfra
Sign-in failures explain themselves again. Entering
the wrong email or password now shows an invalid-credentials message
instead of briefly looking like a successful login.
The welcome page paints its desktop preview sooner.
The main desktop screenshot now loads eagerly, which avoids the browser
warning Next.js reported for the first view.
Account-token code stays server-only. Password-reset
and email-verification token logic now lives behind the server boundary,
matching the app’s release checks.
v2.1.10
featuresfixes
Delete assistant conversations. Right-click a
thread and choose Delete (with a confirmation). Your personal agent
thread is protected and can’t be removed.
The document “Contents” outline works. Clicking a
heading jumps to it instead of doing nothing.
Writing keeps your version history on rename.
Renaming a document no longer loses access to earlier snapshots.
v2.1.9
featuresfixes
Recurring events actually repeat. Set an event to
Daily, Weekly, or Monthly and it shows on every occurrence across the
calendar — not just its first date.
Do-not-disturb and notification rules take effect.
During a DND schedule (or for a source you’ve muted) notifications stay
silent but still land in your history; critical alerts always ring
through.
Rename assistant conversations. The thread
right-click menu works now — it was a dead menu before.
App Store fixes. “Open” opens an installed app
instead of re-running the install review, and a failed uninstall no
longer removes the app from your dock.
Developer Center fixes. Saving a listing no longer
un-features it or gets rejected for moderators, and release “signing” is
described honestly as an integrity checksum.
Uploads don’t clobber. Uploading a file that shares
a name with an existing one keeps a copy instead of overwriting it.
v2.1.8
featuresfixes
Notification settings are reachable again. A full
Notifications tab (rules, do-not-disturb schedules, and assistant
nudges) is now in Settings — it was built but had no way in.
Files column view tells the truth. It shows the
real contents of each folder in the path instead of falsely labeling
every parent “Empty folder.”
Window-tab merges keep every tab. Dragging a
multi-tab window onto another no longer loses the extra tabs.
No duplicate keychain entries. The Save button
stays disabled until your entry is actually encrypted and saved, so a
fast double-click can’t create two.
Single account nav on Safari. Account pages were
rendering both the mobile and desktop navigation at once on WebKit;
now just one.
v2.1.7
featuresfixes
Your calendar remembers your events. Everything you
add, edit, or drag persists across reloads instead of resetting to the
sample schedule. Events can’t be saved ending before they start, and a
repeat option honestly notes that recurring events aren’t expanded
yet.
Find & merge duplicate contacts. A new tool
combines matching contacts — filling blank fields and keeping both sets
of tags and notes — instead of leaving you two half-complete cards.
Photo edits keep their rotation. Rotate, save, and
reopen, and the orientation sticks in the editor, grid, and viewer.
Music & video playback fixes. Imported audio
advances to the next track (and repeat works), and a video that can’t
autoplay no longer shows a false “playing” state.
Honest, durable mail delete. It now says “Hidden
from this inbox” (there’s no server delete yet) and a hidden message
stays hidden across reloads.
Terminal history records every command again.
Several built-ins (help, whoami, apps, and more) had silently stopped
showing up in history.
Crash reports reach us again. A header requirement
was silently blocking the automatic error reporter in production.
v2.1.6
fixesperfdesign
Terminal tabs are real sessions. Each tab keeps
its own working directory and output history — previously every tab
shared one hidden session, so switching tabs changed nothing.
Notes fixes. Your daily note actually opens and
saves (it was silently lost), [[wiki-links]] find
backlinks regardless of capitalization, and following a link no longer
overwrites the target note’s tag.
Wellness remembers your entries. Mood, sleep,
hydration, and meditation now persist across reloads instead of
resetting to sample data.
Honest empty and error states. Mail no longer says
“you’re all caught up” after a failed sync, the Calendar’s “no events”
note stops claiming “today” on other dates, and the mail search box
only advertises search it can actually do.
App correctness. The calculator no longer computes
early when chaining operators (5 + × 3 = 15, not 30), Drawing stops
exporting shapes from deleted layers, adding a Contact opens a real
editable form, and playlist reorder and the Photos column slider both
work.
90% smaller default wallpaper. A 1.9 MB background
image became 150 KB, so the desktop paints faster on every load with no
visible quality loss.
Honest AI previews. Standalone AI tools (AI Image,
the code and PDF assistants, mail AI drafts) are labeled “Preview” —
illustrative output, not a live model.
Accessibility. More dialogs return focus to what
opened them, and several panels now respect your reduce-motion
setting.
v2.1.5
securitydesigninfra
Account security hardening. Password-reset and
email-verification links are single-use and stored hashed, changing
your password signs out your other sessions, and sign-in attempts are
rate-limited.
The lock screen knows you. It greets you by your
display name instead of a generic “User”.
Every shortcut, documented. The ⌘/ overlay lists
alternative combos (⌘K and ⌘Space, F3 and ⌃↑, all the tiling
variants) and notes that a bare ? opens it too.
Quieter empty states. Focus, the Weather city
search, and Terminal history show compact, readable empty states
instead of bare text.
Readable with every accent. Active filter pills
in News and the Save button in Contacts follow the text-on-accent
token.
Less dead code. Removed an entire orphaned
launcher implementation and duplicate alarm components that kept
misdirecting maintenance work.
v2.1.4
designfixes
The desktop fills your screen again. A styling
conflict reserved a dead band above the dock and pushed the “Restore
previous workspace?” buttons below the screen edge. Both are fixed.
Dark theme looks right everywhere. The in-app theme
setting now controls dark styling instead of your browser’s system
preference, so Settings and other apps no longer render washed-out white
panels when the two disagree.
Frosted glass is back in production. The
notification center, windows, and control center had silently lost
their blur to a build-time CSS bug and rendered as thin transparent
films over the desktop.
Readable on light wallpapers. Desktop icon labels
get a subtle scrim and a stronger shadow, and the desktop clock follows
your theme instead of always being white.
Launcher polish. The results footer is never
clipped, section headers blend with the glass panel, and app rows no
longer repeat the app name twice.
Files toolbar fits on one row. Paste, star, and
comments became icon buttons with tooltips so the search field keeps
its room.
The System widget reports honestly. “Load” for
main-thread busyness, and storage as the actual amount used (for
example 48 MB) instead of a 0% that looked broken.
The announcement banner is a compact pill instead
of a full-width stripe under the menu bar, and the sign-in card dropped
its fake “trusted by developers worldwide” stars.
v2.1.3
fixes
Contacts and Habits persist. Added contacts,
edited habits, and completions survive reloads instead of resetting to
sample data. The Habits heatmap shows your real activity.
Trash restores folders whole. Restoring a folder
from Trash brings back everything inside it — previously it came back
empty.
Weather’s hourly forecast is in order. No more
duplicated “Now” or wrapping hours; it lists the next 24 hours from the
current time in the place you’re viewing.
Password resets enforce real strength rules. The
same 12-character mixed-case-and-digit policy as sign-up.
v2.1.2
fixes
The ⌘K calculator works in production. Arithmetic
like 2+2, sqrt(144), or 2^10 evaluates in the launcher — a strict
security policy had been silently blocking the old evaluator.
v2.1.1
fixes
Calculator and conversions in the real launcher.
Type a sum like 2+2, or 100 eur to usd, 1 gb to mb, 90 min to h, and
press ↵ to copy the answer.
v2.1.0
features
Smarter ⌘K conversions. Currency uses live daily
exchange rates with a clear “as of” date and an offline fallback, plus
new data-size and time conversions.
Keyboard-friendly dialogs. Focus settings, Focus
day details, and Calendar quick-add close with Esc and keep Tab inside
them.
Recording failures explain themselves. Screen and
camera recording reports blocked permission, missing device, or a
camera in use instead of doing nothing.
v2.0.0
featuresinfra
Real invite loop for the beta. Signups persist,
admins invite from the Beta tab, and invite links get you straight past
closed registration.
Faster sign-in. Dropped a hardcoded delay and
pre-warm the desktop while you type your password.
Backups are proven. The first full restore drill
passed end to end; nightly database backups keep off-site copies.
Since 1.1: assistant web search, launcher search
over Help and Contacts, deep-linking into mail, per-space wallpapers,
copilot quick actions, offline-friendly PWA polish, and a full
security and rate-limit audit across every API route.
